The Pinfu Center: Riichi Nomi's Home for Competitive Play
The Pinfu Center is a 4-autotable riichi mahjong venue in downtown Brooklyn, owned and operated by Claire and Andres Hernandez as President and Officer of Riichi Nomi NYC. The Pinfu Center is the home for Riichi Nomi's local tournaments, player improvement activities, and intermediate+ spaces for players who have already mastered the basics of riichi mahjong. The Pinfu Center is powered by Saikouisen USA, which is a regional branch of the professional riichi mahjong organization Saikouisen Nihon Pro Mahjong Kyoukai (最高位戦日本プロ麻雀協会).

Ranked Seasons
The Pinfu Center hosts an aka ari and an aka nashi league each season. Both ranked leagues are tracked on the Riichi Nomi ranking site, which tracks seasonal rank as well as players' permanent Riichi Nomi Rating across all Riichi Nomi meetups and tournaments. Current league rankings are available on the website!
The aka ari league uses the M-League rules (aka ari with oka) with matches every Monday, from 6:00pm–11:00pm.
The aka nashi league uses the Saikouisen rules with matches every Thursday from 6:00pm–11:00pm.
Ranked leagues are intended for competitive practice for experienced players. Players reserving a seat should be at a level where they understand basic tile efficiency and push/fold strategy in riichi mahjong, and should be able to score common mahjong hands without assistance. Staff on site will assist with any in-game etiquette questions and ensure that volume is kept at a respectful level for players to focus on the game.
Open Play
Open play is every Wednesday night from 6:00pm–11:00pm. Open play is welcome to players of any level and is a more casual and relaxed environment to enjoy riichi mahjong. You can either reserve for "set play", and rent out an autotable with your friends to play a ruleset of your choice; or reserve a single seat for "free play" and be matched with whoever else comes to play that day.
