The venue is within a 5-minute walk of the E and F trains at the 5th Ave/53rd station, and within a 10-minute walk of the 4, 5, 6, N, R, and W trains at the 59th St. station.

If a seat opens up we will contact you in order of time of wait list submission, and you will have 3 days to purchase the seat before we offer it to the next person on the wait list.

PRIZES

$1500 GUARANTEED PRIZE POOL

In addition, 1st–4th place will receive trophies, and 5th–8th place will receive medals. Next-to-last place will receive a printed and bound copy of Riichi Book 1 for their study and enjoyment.

​

This tournament has been approved as a NARMA Regional WRC Qualifier, and based on the number of participants, eligible players attempting to qualify for WRC through the USA will be awarded the corresponding points for their placement as listed on the NARMA webpage.

​

RULES

We will use the WRC ruleset with optional modifications 2.1 - Red Fives,  3.2 - Nagashi Mangan, 4.1 Uma (30/10), and 4.4 Kazoe Yakuman.

We expect good will and fair sportsmanship from all attendees.

STRUCTURE​

The tournament will be 10 hanchan of a pure cumulative format, with no top cut. Prizes and rankings will be determined by your total score at the end of all 10 games.

​

​

FOOD

Lunch, snacks, water, coffee and tea on both days of the tournament are offered complimentary with your admission!

​

If you are not interested in the venue’s lunch offerings, there are countless eating establishments of various cuisines within a 2 block radius of the venue.

​

​

HOUSING

There is no hotel specifically associated with the venue, but there are many options in Manhattan and Queens on direct train lines to the venue.

REFUND POLICY

By submitting payment we assume you will participate in the tournament. Refunds for withdrawals will only be honored in the case of emergencies (e.g. serious illness, flight delays/cancellations). If you are unclear as to what constitutes a valid emergency, please reach out to us.

TOURNAMENT WEEKEND EVENTS

​

Friday, June 21st: The tournament venue will be open from 6pm - midnight for free play. If you ordered a Riichi Nomi Jersey, it will be available for pickup at this time!

 

Saturday, June 22nd: Day 1 of RNO runs from 9:30am - 7pm. Following Day 1, there will be a an optional dinner outing to our classic Clinton Hall haunt on East 51st. Meanwhile, Floor 6 of the venue will be open for our RNO After Hours, sponsored by Lunar Seltzer and Neat Beverages! Please bring your ID if you want to partake and always drink responsibly.

• Mahjong free play (7pm - midnight)

• Mahjong pottery and Riichi Nomi merchandise sales (7pm - 9pm)

• Citypop DJ set by DJ Maximilian (8:30pm - 10:30pm)

• No Limit Texas Hold'em (8:30pm - midnight)

 

Sunday, June 23rd: Day 2 of RNO runs from 9:30am - 7:20pm. Following Day 2, there will be an award ceremony, and mahjong free play until 11pm.

 

Monday, June 24th: Riichi Nomi has partnered with Sparrow’s Nest Studio to open from 10am-6pm on Monday for more mahjong! The studio, in midtown Manhattan, is fully equipped with Japanese scoring autotables and will be the location hosting the USA Final Qualifier Invitational. The RNO participant rate for Monday free play at Sparrow’s Nest Studio is $10 for an all-day pass.
